Chapter Ten

Joker

Today’s been a good day. After the three of us took a nap and relaxed for a while Sky got up and did her thing in the kitchen with Bailey’s help. Cage and I worked outside. We brought tables and chairs up from the pond, moved a few toys over for the kids, and got the grill ready to go. Ma and Pops showed up a little while ago with the kids and they’re trying to help us outside. The only thing they’re doing though is making us laugh our asses off. Jameson is trying to pull things that are bigger than him and weigh about twenty times more than he does. Reagan is trying to put the toys in a certain order. She’s putting all of ‘hers’ in one area and Jameson’s in another area.

The only thing we have left to do is set up a canopy so that Reagan can be in the shade. We’re not doing that until more of the guys show up though. It will be easier to set up with more of us then if just Cage and I try.

“Levi, can you come help me bring some of this food out to the coolers?” Ma asks out the door.

“Yeah. I’ll be right there.”

As I go to walk in the house, I hear the familiar rumble of bikes coming down the road. I’m glad the guys are here so we can set the canopy up now before Reagan has to go inside. She deserves to be able to have fun with us outside. So, I quickly grab the meat that has to go in the coolers and walk back outside. I tell Bailey that she’ll have to bring stuff out for now so we can get it setup for my little girl.

Blaze is the first one to make his way over to us. After giving man hugs all around, I gather him and Dozer to help me start setting the poles up. When it comes to putting the canopy on, I’ll grab more guys to help.

“Why are we settin’ this up?” Blaze asks me. “I’m all for shade and stuff, but you want it set up over the toys.”

“We need to limit the amount of time Reagan spends in the sun. She has seizures and her medicine doesn’t make it good for her to be out for long periods of time. This is one of the ways we get around it.” Cage says coming over to us.

“Who is Reagan?” Blaze asks just as the kids walk over to us.

“This little cutie is Reagan and the little man over there is Jameson.” I say picking Reagan up.

“Damn! Those are some cute as fuck kids.” Blaze responds.

“Yeah, too bad neither one of us can take credit for that. So, let’s get this set up so we can start cookin’ and shit.”
